Job Description: |  | Two Roads is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to work in Southern California Contract to Hire.
The Control Systems Engineer will develop powertrain control systems strategy for automotive powertrain controllers (including hydrogen internal combustion, hybrid electric, and fuel cell applications).
This candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong history of working “hands on” with powertrain control systems in automotive projects.
- This is NOT a position for purely theoretical studies or for test, verification, and validation engineers.
- Expert in Torque Security control theory and development of control strategies for use in electric and hybrid electric powertrains.
- Expert in powertrain control strategy development (internal combustion, hybrid, or fuel cell) for embedded controllers in alternative fuel vehicles (Hydrogen, CNG, LPG, Diesel Hybrid, Gasoline Hybrid).
- Understanding of diagnostics (OBD-II), drivability, emissions, Service Tool interactions, and EOL interactions.
- Use MATLAB (Simulink, Stateflow Coder, and Real Time Workshop Coder) to model and implement powertrain control systems.
- Use automotive Controller Area Networks (CAN) software and strategy for embedded powertrain controllers to communicate with other vehicle systems.
- Release and support powertrain control software (Serena PVCS).
- Fault Tree Analysis and FMEA development experience.
- Requires good systematic thinking capabilities to understand and optimize hybrid vehicle powertrain system interactions.
- Define control strategies, create code, and test in a bench environment as well as in the target application.
- Control Systems support for a project from the quote process through production and service.
- Coordinate development actions with Systems Software Engineers, Project Management, Powertrain Engineering & Manufacturing.
- Direct interface to hardware component engineering to define some system interface requirements.
